Expertise

Die Beherrschung moderner Füge- und Randschichtverfahren erfordert Kenntnisse von den ablaufenden strukturellen Änderungen in den Werkstoffen bis hin zu den resultierenden Bauteileigenschaften. Zur Technologieentwicklung und Qualitätsbewertung steht im IWS eine moderne Geräteausstattung für mechanisch- technologische Prüfungen, Metallographie, Licht- und Elektronenmikroskopie sowie Mikroanalytik zur Verfügung. Langjährige Erfahrungen bestehen besonders bei der Charakterisierung randschichtbehandelter und geschweißter Proben und Bauteile aus metallischen Werkstoffen sowie bei der Analyse von Schichten, Schichtsystemen, Nanopartikel und Nanotubes.

Material and material aspects form the foundation for many technological innovations. Material development and the further development of material-independent production processes are of utmost interest. The IWS has got comprehensive technologies at its disposal for the structural, micro- analytical and mechanical material characterization.

 

Competencies

Mastering modern joining and surface processes requires knowledge about the occurring structural changes in the material and about the resulting part properties. Based on experience and an excellently equipped mircoanalytical and materials characterization laboratory we offer:

  • metallographic, electron microscopic (SEM, TEM) and microanalytic (EDX) characterization of the material structure of metals, ceramics and composites
  • determination of material parameters for part dimensioning and quality assurance
  • property evaluation of surface treated and welded parts
  • strategies for the material and loading adapted part design
  • material failure analysis
